Déjà deux semaines que nous sommes de retour au bateau. Il fait très, très chaud. La température monte a 33-34 degrés au milieu de l’après-midi. Avec l’humidex, la chaleur ressentie est de 41 degrés. Nous avons dû faire refaire la peinture anti-salissure et nous avons effectué une multitude de travaux d’entretien sur le bateau. Tout se détériore à une vitesse incroyable dans ce climat.
Nous avons enfin mis le bateau à l’eau lundi et nous sommes à l’ancre dans le lagon de St Georges. Nous y sommes beaucoup plus confortables qu’au sec dans la cour. Il n’y avait pas de vent et la chaleur demeurait dans le bateau jusqu’à tard dans la nuit. Ici nous avons toujours une bonne brise. Nous dormons beaucoup mieux et il n’y a pas de maringouins ni de bibittes.
Nous avons engagé Léo, un Grenadien, pour faire du vernissage sur le bateau. Ça lui prendra un peu plus d’une semaine pour compléter le travail. Nous avons l’intention de prendre des tours guidés pour visiter Grenade en attendant. Il semblerait que c’est très beau à l’intérieur des terres. Nous vous en reparlerons dans le blog et mettrons des photos dans l’album.
À la fin du mois, nous traverserons à Cariacou, une petite île des Grenadines à environ 30 mi. à l’est. Nous ne sommes pas pressés car la saison des tempêtes se termine à la fin novembre.

Already two weeks since we have been back to the boat. It is very, very hot. The temperature goes up to 33-34 degrees by mid afternoon. With the humidity factor it feels like 41 degrees. We had the antifouling paint redone and do a lot of maintenance work on the boat. It is amazing how fast everything deteriorates in this climate.
We finally launched the boat Monday afternoon and we are now anchored in the St Georges lagoon. We are much more comfortable than on the hard. There was no wind and the boat interior remained hot until late in the night. There is always a good breeze here. We sleep much better and there are no bugs and mosquitoes.
We hired, Leo, a Grenadian, to do the varnish on the boat. It will take him a little bit more a week to do the work. In the mean time, we are planning to take guided tours of Grenada. We are told that the island’s interior is very nice. We will write about it in the blog and put few pictures in the photo album.
At the end of the month we will sail to Cariacou, a small island in the Grenadines some 30 miles east. We are in no hurry because the tropical storm season lasts until the end of November.
